# How HairLossIndex verifies listings
HairLossIndex is designed as a source-backed directory for hair-loss products, clinics, and practitioners. The goal is to help users compare public information, not to diagnose hair loss or recommend a treatment.
This page is educational only and is not medical advice. Users should speak with a qualified professional before making medical decisions.
What counts as a source
For launch, listings should be based on official or public sources such as:
- Official product pages
- Official clinic websites
- Official practitioner profiles
- Public professional or regulator pages
- Public product label or regulatory context where available
Review sites, forum comments, private profiles, and anecdotal posts should not be used as primary listing sources.
Fields we do not invent
HairLossIndex should leave fields blank when a source does not support them. This includes:
- Ratings and review counts
- Coordinates
- Prices
- Emails
- Languages
- Accreditations
- Medical outcome claims
Product checks
Product listings should show the active ingredient, treatment category, and evidence level from the data contract. These labels are editorial organization tools and should not imply that a product is suitable for every user.
Clinic and practitioner checks
Clinic and practitioner listings should show only public, source-backed information. UK listings should prioritize CQC, GMC, BAHRS, and named doctor transparency when those details are visible. US listings should prioritize board-certified dermatology and hair-restoration credentials when publicly supported.
Data confidence
HairLossIndex uses data confidence internally to decide what should be indexed first. High and medium confidence listings are better candidates for launch indexing. Low confidence listings should remain draft, noindexed, or excluded until verified.
Import notes
- Link this page from footer, listing pages, and archive pages.
- Keep the method public so users can understand what is known and what is intentionally blank.
- Add a changelog section once re-verification workflows exist.
HairLossIndex is for educational directory use only and is not medical advice. Speak with a qualified healthcare professional before starting or changing treatment.
